Former 34th Street Cafe chef de cuisine Blake Moffitt and his partner Skylar Hodgson are the team behind Elevated Artisanal Goods (852-8609, elevatedartisan@gmail.com), selling artisanal cow's milk cheeses, condiments, and soups at the Bastrop 1832, Sunset Valley, HOPE, and Triangle farmers' markets. They expect to have product descriptions on a website by March 1. Pastry chef couple Philip (Uchi) and Callie Speer (parkside) now have their own custom cake business. Check out their creations and make arrangements to consult with them about the cake of your wildest dreams at www.cakemixaustin.com. Omni Downtown pastry chef Mike Joyner and his wife, Amanda, have launched Retro Bizzaro (547-7336), preparing updated versions of classic snack cakes, breakfast pastry tarts, and candy bars made from mostly local ingredients. Look for their tasty goodies at HOPE market and online at www.retrobizzaro.com. Though John and Kendall Antonelli had no previous background in food, John realized he wanted to change careers and was passionate about cheese. The couple traveled through Europe tasting cheese, and then John interned with a famous French affineur Hervé Mons and attended boot camp at the famed Murray's Cheese Shop in New York City in preparation for the opening of Antonelli's Cheese Shop (4220 Duval St., 531-9610, www.antonellischeese.com). Their shop features a majority of American artisanal cheeses and is the perfect addition to the foodie corner in the heart of the Hyde Park neighborhood. The newest creation from Kocurek Family Artisanal Charcuterie (www.kocurekfamilycharcuterie.com) is Lawrence Eugene Kocurek III (6 pounds, 8 ounces; 19 inches), who made his debut Feb. 3.
