• Celebrate National Bike Month by riding your bike to work this Friday with a delicious pit stop at the Peddler Bike Shop (119 North Loop, 220-6766, www.peddlerbike.com). Students from the Texas Culinary Academy (www.tca.edu) will serve a free breakfast of croissants and smoothies. Friday, May 15, 7-9am.

• Farm-fresh egg lovers may want to consider the fourth annual Free Chicken Seminar this weekend at the Natural Gardener (8648 Old Bee Caves Rd., 288-6113, www.naturalgardeneraustin.com). Local "chickenists" Carol Ann Sayle, Diana Claitor, and Paula Middleton will speak on such topics as flock size, best laying breeds, feed and water, coop design, natural predators, and more. Bring your own lawn chair and plenty of questions. Saturday, May 16, 9am.

• Belgian beer aficionados are eagerly anticipating the third annual Great Austin Belgian Beer Festival this weekend at Zax Pints & Plates (312 Barton Springs Rd., 481-0100). Check out the partial list of beers to be sampled at www.zaxaustin.com, and buy tickets in advance for $22, at the door for $25, or get the premium VIP tasting package for $40. Zax's full food menu will be available. Saturday, May 16, 2-7pm.
