Bánh Mì

Lily's Sandwich

10901 N. Lamar, 973-9479
Monday-Saturday, 9am-8pm; Sunday, 9am-7pm

Lily's is clearly a popular spot, and the list of sandwiches is long and varied, including fish, chicken, and beef ragu in addition to the usual pork, pâté, and chicken varieties ($1.99-2.25). However, the No. 1 "Gourmet" bánh mì is the most popular, a combination sandwich of barbecue pork, ham, and pork roll. Lily's dresses its bánh mì with mayonnaise rather than pâté, and the marinated vegetables include daikon radish, carrots, cilantro, and fresh jalapeños. The bread at Lily's is disappointing, however – often stale and always cold – and the quality of the bánh mì varies considerably from visit to visit.
