• The Alamo Drafthouse Iron Chef Battle Celluloid series continues tonight when Alamo chefs John Bullington, Trish Eichelberger, and Elijah Horgan take on challenger chef Lawrence Kocurek of Roy's restaurant. The secret ingredient is director Preston Sturges' classic zany comedy The Lady Eve, starring Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck. Each team will present five dishes during the movie in the Alamo Kitchen Stadium (theatre No. 3 at South Lamar), and the audience along with a panel of judges (including yours truly) will decide the winner. Tickets are $75 at www.originalalamo.com. Thursday, March 27, 7pm.

Stortini Ristorante Italiano (1917 Manor Rd., 391-9500) hosts a benefit for the Sustainable Food Center's farm-to-school project, Sprouting Healthy Kids (www.sustainablefoodcenter.org). The party will feature musical entertainment from the Ephraim Owens Trio. Tickets are $25 at the door. Thursday, March 27, 7-10pm.

• The Austin Young Women's Alliance and the local chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier are hosting the Haute Tea Party and silent auction to raise funds for their scholarship programs for young women. Guests are encouraged to wear their best hats and gloves to the fancy tea party to be served at Ventana on the campus of the Texas Culinary Academy (11400 Burnet Rd. #2100). An elegant tea service will be provided by the Steeping Room, and the menu will include dainty tea sandwiches, scones, lemon tarts, and petits fours. Across the hall in TCA's Bleu River Grill, children from 6 to 12 years old will have their own festive tea party with crustless sandwiches, sweet pastries, and kids activities. Tickets are $65 for adults and $20 for children at www.youngwomensalliance.org. Saturday, March 29, 2-4pm.

• Hawaiian fusion chef Roy Yamaguchi celebrates 20 years in business at his restaurants around the country with a week of 1988 dinners featuring classic culinary creations from his extensive repertoire. The four-course menu is $75 per person or $55 without wine pairings. Reservations are recommended and can be made at www.roysrestaurant.com/reservations.asp for the local Roy's (340 E. Second, 391-1500). The special menu is available from March 31 through April 5.
