Dear Editor,
Thank you for Jim Caligiuri's article on the late Ian McLagan [“
All I Wanna Do,” Music, Dec. 12]. Having been to Austin on two occasions in the Nineties to attend SXSW, I have no doubts about the good-natured and inclusive folks that make up the local music industry welcoming Mr. McLagan into their midst.
For his part, by all accounts, he was generous, humble, and felt truly at home in your city. As a teenage Faces fan and an adult fan of musicians like Mr. McLagan, who played for the music, not the adulation, I feel some comfort in knowing that his recent years were spent with friends and others who truly appreciated what a musical Merlin he really was. Rest in peace, Mr. McLagan, we won't forget you soon.
