World Cup Watch Daily: June 28
A daily update on the action in Brazil
By Nick Barbaro, 7:54AM, Sat. Jun. 28, 2014
Welcome back, after a day off before the knockout rounds start. Saturday is South American day, with the host continent providing all four teams in this quarter of the bracket. Elsewhere, the city of Austin announced a big watch party for the USA game Tuesday, and the Austin Aztex prepare to host the Laredo Heat tonight at 7:30pm at House Park.
Saturday’s Games:
11am: Brazil-ChileThe hosts are huge favorites in the opening game, but don't count out Chile, who have the talent to spoil the party. Brazil have yet to show their jogo bonito; might this be the day?
3pm: Colombia-Uruguay
Colombia's cafeteros have been one of the most impressive and entertaining squads at the tournament thus far, with a speedy, potent attack, and a perhaps underrated defense that recorded seven clean sheets during the qualifying campaign. They should rip apart the Luis Suarez-less Uruguay. Good riddance.
