Toros Host 'Select Your Seat' Event With Danny Ferry

It's that time of year again, ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys. No, not Blues on the Green (save that for your aunt and uncle). I'm talking the return of Austin Toros basketball! Just the thought of their fastly approaching season-opening tip-off gets my blood circulating as fast as a Leo Lyons spin to the hoop.

As members of Austin's basketball-loving populous, we all remember our first Austin Toros home-game experience, and thanks to the upcoming "Select Your Seat" event at the beautiful Cedar Park Center (2100 Avenue of the Stars, Cedar Park), we can all find ourselves smack dab in the middle of new memories, the kind that last a lifetime.

"Select Your Seat" (Sat., Aug. 20, 10am-noon) is an open house of sorts, as returning season ticket holders and new fans alike will be able to tour the stadium, and quite literally select a seat for the upcoming season. But wait, the fun doesn't stop there! Former NBA sharp-shooter and current Spurs VP of Basketball Ops Danny Ferry will be in the arena from 10:30am to 11:30am holding a free basketball clinic for children of all ages. Ferry, a real-deal living legend, has proven time and time again to be one of the golden basketball minds of this and any generation. Learning from him, even just one tiny trick, will be a lasting memory for any child. Also in the house will be the Toros mascot, Da Bull, and everyone in attendance will enjoy a free gift. Fans who reserve tickets will also have the chance to win prizes, which will most certainly be downright awesome.

The Toros play 24 home games at the Cedar Park Center this season, and this is your chance to get the perfect ticket package at the perfect price. Last season's roster featured plenty of top-tier talent. Former West Virginia standout Da'Sean Butler played with the energy and heart we all came to admire from his collegiate days. Leo Lyons dominated during the second half of the year, showing that he belongs with Tim and Manu in Spur country. Only in the NBA Developmental League do players play their hearts out for a chance at true greatness. There aren't many leagues better, except of course for the big show, the NBA, the ultimate dream of all who wear Toro black and silver. The Toros represent Austin, and as it should be, we in Austin need to represent the Toros. Bring the entire family. It's a sure-fire good time. See you at the arena!
