By Marjorie Baumgarten, January 16, 2015, 3:30pm, Picture in Picture

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, the Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce has announced that Austin-based Vista Equity Partners is providing the opportunity for 1,000 middle- and high-school students within the Greater Austin region to see the Academy Award-nominated film, Selma for free.

Says Robert F. Smith, CEO of Vista Equity Partners: “It is of the utmost importance to expose our young people to the courage, compassion and integrity that is brought to life in the film Selma. It illuminates a period of American history that is very relevant today, Dr. King has been a source of inspiration for me and for many people of all races and ethnicities. I consider this not just an opportunity, but a responsibility, to bring his message and his dream to the students of Austin.”

This offer applies only at the Regal Westgate 11. Middle- and high-school students in the Greater Austin region should go to the box office at the Westgate with their Student I.D. or report card to receive a complimentary ticket. Free showtimes are only available at the Westgate location through Monday, January 19, 2015.
