Beware 'The Visitor' in Trailer Park

By Monica Riese, October 30, 2013, 5:26pm, Picture in Picture

When Drafthouse Films announced this summer that it was adding 1979's lost oddity The Visitor to its release slate, we weren't quite sure what to expect.

At the time, Richard Whittaker described the project as what would happen if the filmmakers "grabbed an armful of successes, from Close Encounters of the Third Kind to The Birds, Space 1999, and Damien: Omen II, threw it in a blender, set it to 'Jodorowsky' and poured the result onto celluloid."

Now, thanks to the latest Drafthouse trailer for the project, we have a little bit better idea of what it actually looks like when you throw John Huston, Lance Henriksen, Franco Nero, and Sam Peckinpah (wait, what?) all onscreen together.

"The world wasn’t ready for this film in 1979, and it still may not be," said Drafthouse Films Creative Director Evan Husney. Take a look below and see if you are.
