'Mad Men' split, plus Matthew McConaughey and more

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll shake your fist angrily at AMC (again). Here's the news from the TV world.
• Squidbillies and Aqua TV Show Show are stopping in Austin for two nights only: tonight at the Alamo Drafthouse Village and tomorrow night at Slaughter Lane. You'll be able to hear from the shows' executive producers, sure, but you'll also be able to put a (human) face to the voices of Carl, Meatwad, and Master Shake. • In a move that should surprise no one, AMC announced this week that it would split the last season of Mad Men into two (presumably more profitable) parts, with the last half concluding in 2015. The Breaking Bad fans among us will just pray our emotional scars from the network pulling the same maneuver will have healed over by then, and we'll keep you posted if the season nomenclature (5 and 6? 5A and B? "The Final Season"?) gets any less murky.
• Still reeling from Matthew McConaughey's performance in Mud? Brace yourself, because his next couple of months promise to deliver too. In November, he's back on the big screen with Dallas Buyers Club, and January sees the premiere of HBO drama True Detective. McConaughey and Woody Harrelson co-star as two detectives "whose lives collide during a 17-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana, with current-day testimony from each framing flashbacks to the investigation."
