Old project, new goals

If Stephen Belyeu's name and project sound familiar, you're not imagining things. Feature film Dig is already shot and edited and done, and it has a nice award under its belt.
That's right, Dig took home the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the 2010 Austin Film Festival. OK, so what's left to Kickstart?
Trouble is, it sounds but might not look familiar. Belyeu is gathering funds now in order to distribute his South Texas psychological thriller that follows a young man as he returns to his hometown and retraces his father's footsteps leading to his mysterious death.
Distribution is partially to keep a promise he made himself, but also to spread the story to those who might identify with it and to shine the spotlight on South Texas in something that's not Western. And considering the AFF award and the fact that Jeff Nichols called it "a compelling film" by "a promising new voice," it's likely worth trying to help make that happen.
As of this writing, the crowdsourcing campaign is just shy of 60% toward its $5,000 goal with six days to go. So check out the pitch video, and if you like what you see, break open your wallet and toss it a few bucks.
Kickstart Your Weekend is a series intended to showcase Texas film and tech projects that are crowdfunding their way to a goal, be it distribution, a prototype, or production costs. If you have a project that we should know about, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
