If you already have God of Blades on your iPhone or iPad then you may have noticed the new gameplay option, Revenant. It's an asynchronous multiplayer mode, which is a fancy way of saying that two people play at the same time to see who can slay the hardest. Additionally they've added a character creator letting you pimp your blade-wielder with helmets, armor, and even glowing eyes.
If that wasn't enough, the game is on sale for 99 cents. I know a lot of you scoff at anything but free apps, but seriously, it's a dollar. Forgo your usual small Wendy's frosty and get this game.
Want to check a version of the game out before you commit to that dollar investment? You're in luck. With the help of the locally helmed gaming culture blog, Venus Patrol, White Whale unleashes Slayers – their head-to-head two-player GoB offshoot – for free. The difference between this and the Revenant mode is that Slayers is for PC only and pits you against a friend in direct combat (in other words, at the same computer). Prior to this, the game has only been playable at special events like Fantastic Fest and the Game On Austin party, but now you can slice and dice your pals anytime. Normally Venus Patrol offers games to folks who pay for a membership to the website, but not this time. Slayers is just a heaping pile of awesome sitting on the internet waiting for you to take your free scoop.
