Who's Laughing Now? Drafthouse Films 'Klown' Set for July Release
Drafthouse Films third release forthcoming

Your summer just got weirder. Drafthouse Films has announced that they have acquired Klown, Danish director Mikkel Nørgaard's bizarro-comedy that had them puking in the aisles -- in a good way -- at Fantastic Fest 2011.
Slated for a July 27 release in Austin, New York, and Los Angeles, with concurrent VOD, the tastefully tasteless raunch-fest is Drafthouse Films third official release, following Four Lions and The FP. (Also in the pipeline is the 26-director horrorthon The ABCs of Death.)
We missed the Klown screening at FF, where it nabbed the "Best Picture" award in the Comedy Films category, but here's the official synopsis from the Alamo Drafthouse site. Word is it's awesomely inappropriate for anyone under the age of dead, which is almost always a good thing in our book.
How inappropriate, exactly? Apparently much so that it's been green-lighted for an American remake to be produced by perpetually hungover, extreme comedy master Todd Phillips (The Hangover, The Hangover Part II, The Hangover Part III, ad nauseum).
We're rarely keen on American remakes of wicked cool foreign films, but Phillips, who recently produced the totally fucked up -- again, in a good way -- Project X, feels like exactly the right guy for the job.
Here's Klown's Red Band trailer for you. Children, avert your eyes, please.
