A late start after last night's thundersleet may make for a long night in the Travis County races. Although polling locations will be open until nine, ballots cast between 7 and 9 will be considered provisional per state law. A review will be expedited, but the totals from those ballots will not be released until Thursday evening.
That's bad news for local Democrats, who are looking forward to November after a particularly contentious primary season. Newsdesk will have full coverage of the election online and in this week's issue.
Meanwhile, much is at stake the state races. Rick Perry's decision not to run again made for a packed Republican ballot. Six races became battlegrounds, with the Lite Guv race likely headed to a run-off.
On the Democratic side, few candidates are running with a challenger. Those frontrunners who did draw some competition, like Sen. Wendy Davis, are expected to be popping champagne corks early.
We will be updating the below totals throughout the night as the races are called. Projected winners will be bolded; run-off candidates will be marked with an asterisk. Travis County totals for the national and statewide races will be updated with the final reports tomorrow morning. Only contested races are shown.
