City Updates Flood Aid Info
Donations should go to Red Cross, food and clothing elsewhere
By Michael King, 12:18PM, Sat. Nov. 2
The City of Austin Flood Assistance Center opened this morning at the Dove Springs Recreation Center located at 5801 Ainez Drive. The Center is scheduled to be open from 8 am to 8pm over the next three days and extended if needed. City departments, 211, Red Cross and other entities are on site to assist residents affected by this week’s flooding.
The Public Information press release continues:
The public is asked to not bring donations to the Dove Springs Center. Monetary donations can be sent to the Red Cross; clothing can be dropped off at local Salvation Army sites and non-perishable food items can be taken to Oak Meadow Baptist Church, 6905 S. IH 35, NOT Oak Hill Baptist Church as previously reported." [Note: early Saturday afternoon, the City sent out the corrected info for Oak Meadow Baptist Church.]
A Flood Information Fact Sheet is posted here.
"For additional information, flood victims should call 311 to have recovery needs assessed and receive referrals to the appropriate responding agencies."
