Twenty-seven people are reported dead, including 20 children, in a Connecticut elementary school shooting that happened this morning.

Reportedly the gunman was Adam Lanza, a man in his 20s, who opened fire at the school after shooting and killing his mother whom he lived with.

If the number of victims is correct, the shooting this morning at the Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., will become one of the deadliest in the nation's history behind the Virginia Tech shooting, which claimed 32.
