This Is Only a Test
Emergency Alert System test today
By Jordan Smith, 12:20PM, Wed. Nov. 9, 2011
Unless you've been living under a rock, away from TV, radio and Internet, you likely already know that today at 1pm a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System will take place.
If you didn't know, now you do.
The first-ever nationwide EAS test is part of an effort to beef up national security and preparedness, says the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The test will last for 30 seconds, and will sound much like other EAS tests, say the feds.
