Pet Expo comes to Austin this weekend
By Jordan Smith, 3:50PM, Fri. Oct. 7, 2011
Listen up animal lovers: this is your weekend. That's right the Austin Pet Expo is coming to town Saturday from 10am to 6p at the Travis County Expo Center.
Among the expo highlights: a special appearance by Animal Planet's "Pit Boss," Shorty Rossi and his pup Hercules. Also on tap a dog agility course, pet talent contest, costume contest, and, of course, plenty of animals available for adoption – including 60 furry friends from the Austin Humane Society.
In celebration of "adopt a shelter pet" month, the no-kill AHS will be reducing adoption fees to $20 for all cats, kittens and dogs over six months. All adoptions include up-to-date vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter, a month of free pet health insurance and a "starter kit" of goodies – toys, bedding, treats, and more!
This is Austin's first Pet Expo so get your dog gussied up and join the fun.
You can find out more about the Expo here.
And you can check out the cats and dogs available for adoption from AHS here and here.
