Radio DJ dials up City Council run
By Wells Dunbar, 3:00PM, Fri. Feb. 11, 2011
This morning saw another development in this spring's City Council elections: 101X drive-time DJ Toby Ryan showing up at City Hall this morning, filing campaign treasurer paperwork in a Place 4 against Laura Morrison.
Ryan answered a few questions for us this AM, which we'll have for you Monday. Until then, get a feel for the candidate and his issues via the press release below:
Thursday evening, Ryan hosted his final radio show with the cliff hanger of running for City Council. Leading up to his final show, Ryan continued to lament the lack of support of the Austin music community from city officials.HEY! I’m running to help save Austin music.”
Since his Thursday final radio broadcast, Ryan has received growing community support from musicians, DJs, entertainment promoters, producers and club owners.
“My hope is to unite the music community around my campaign to save music and our shared unique Austin culture,” said Ryan.
