Malik Posts Second Awakening Clip

Kicking off Austin’s annual March madness with a video for “Alone,” local rapper/producer Malik now bookends the month by dropping visuals for “Kaa’s Song,” one of the bouncier affairs off his masterful second album, The Awakening (II).

The video features Malik in two interspersed perspectives, walking with a love interest – after having been shot, apparently.

“There are two versions of myself having a conversation, with one side tempting the other,” says the homegrown MC. “I wanted to create something that grabs your ear when you first hear it, but if you dive into what’s being said, there’s something there too.

“J.J. Pollack, who shot and directed this video, came up with the concept and as soon as he explained it to me I knew we had to do it. It was a bit weird for me at first, performing it with the little bit of acting I did, but I feel I accomplished doing something that pushed me further into the direction I already want to go in.”
