Festival, Texas, keeps rolling as only this town can. Three days removed from the rain and ruin of a two-week Austin City Limits Music Festival, South by Southwest has announced its first cull: 195 acts descending on Austin ranging from all points between here and Taiwan.

Twenty-seven locals dot the March 11-16 landscape, including Raina Rose, Penny & Sparrow, Boyfrndz, Grace London, Cinco Doce, Burgess Meredith, and OBN III’s, all of whom will make their first appearance at the music conference. They’re joined by established acts (Los Lonely Boys, Amy Cook), up-and-comers (Wild Child, East Cameron Folkcore), and a few that warrant a wealth of national attention (Shakey Graves, Ume, Whiskey Shivers).

Nationally, SXSW invites Chaos in Tejas heroes the Men, recent (Tom) Petty Fest stunner Jessica Lea Mayfield, New Orleans bounce braggart Vockah Redu, Houston rapper Killa Kyleon and country man Robert Ellis, California bluegrass trio the Devil Makes Three, and Angelo Moore & the Brand New Step, the new project from Fishbone saxophonist Angelo Moore, among others.

The most pressing reason for SXSW’s early acceptance pertains to international acts, and their need to secure flights and proper visas. Eighty-one of the first 195 announced bands will come from foreign lands – though, based on what’s happened in previous years, a few will likely back out – including the Dunwells, an English band signed to the local home of Los Lonely Boys, Playing in Traffic Records; Greenland folk-popper Nive Nielsen & the Deer Children; Burger Records’ Dutch treasure Mozes & the Firstborn; and Andrea Echeverri, the longtime singer in Colombian rock outfit Aterciopelados.

Full rundown of the 195 artists announced below. Don’t look now, but SXSW arrives in five months.
