Dance parties, dessert, and sleepovers. Since the dawn of five-day work weeks, Friday afternoons have been the gateway to indulgence. And this weekend in ATX it's all about nourishing the senses. Pack in the art, the sound, and the movement with some of the cutest and coolest grrrls and bois around town.
Friday: Kick off your weekend festivities with Girl Gazing. While gazing girls on its own is a decent Friday night activity, tonight at the Gypsy Lounge it's a full-fledged theme-night. Lady-fronted, HeadShy headlines, with Les Rav and videoing opening.
Suggestion: Tonight, it's okay to gaze. But staring and ogling… different categories altogether. Be polite.
Saturday: Let yourself be awed, as the ambidextrous students and instructors of Brass Ovaries showcase their burlesque, aerial, and pole dancing skills tonight. Always amazing, always impressive, and enough acrobatics to make you wonder why you're not that flexible.
Suggestion: Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.
Sunday: This Sunday brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “Sunday Funday,” with a triple-header of fabulous events. First, everyone loves a T-dance – especially ones with waffles and wedding paraphernalia. Yes, Lesbian Wedding with guest cohosts Outsider Fest & Where The Girls Go/ATX (that's us!) invite you to dance your funday away. Meanwhile, Bloody Marys and Kitty Buick make up an awesome Gay Gospel afternoon, and the TGQ Social invites us all to get social at Butterfly Bar.
Suggestion: Sunday’s the new Saturday; we’ll sleep when it’s cold out.
