The AggreGAYtor: June 6
What happened today in gay? Here’s your QILTBAG recap of queer news.
By David Estlund, 9:00AM, Fri. Jun. 6, 2014
Texas GOP members lay down planks, Longview takes the long view, and George Takei goes East, as your AggreGAYtor flutters back to the Moors.
The Good
Texas Republicans will vote today on what language is appropriate for their platform, and we’re hopelessly optimistic.
Longview is about to celebrate its first Pride Festival, and their mayor is quietly supportive.
A high school principal in D.C. has come out to his student body.
Maleficent may be good clean fun, but it’s also way queer, and just in time for Gay Days at Disney World.
George Takei goes to Japan to share his hope for a growing equality movement there.
The Bad
The murder of a transgender woman in Baltimore has authorities and the community searching for answers.
Ukraine’s Democratic Alliance has refused membership to an activist on account of, well, teh gay.
The Fugly
We’re still waiting for news on whether Texas Republicans will incorporate quack “ex-gay” therapy into their platform. We couldn’t find coverage that included the fact that this nonsense has been condemned by both APAs (psychiatric and psychological), the AMA, the U.S. Surgeon General, and the ACA.
It Came from the Tubes
