StartOut's Hack Attack

By Lawrence Everett Forbes, February 11, 2014, 10:30am, Qmmunity

Calling all queer coders, designers, developers, programmers, students, and all-around geeks! If you know your app from your OS, or just love discovering new workarounds, you might be interested in "HackOut: The Future in Austin."

The two-day LGBT-themed hackathon takes place from Saturday-Sunday, February 15-16 downtown at Capital Factory (in the Omni Hotel). It's also designed – so to speak – to bring tech enthusiasts together to generate new projects. What's more: Cash, cloud computing, and marketing consulting awards will be presented to the winning ventures.

HackOut is presented by StartOut, a tech nonprofit committed to helping LGBT entrepreneurs develop their ideas through educational events, mentoring, and community building.

You don't have to be hack-savvy to attend. As the group's Facebook page suggests, "Individuals with all levels of experience are welcome to participate, and any viable business idea can form the basis for participant hacks."
