Morally 'Straight': The Lord Baden Perry Connection
Rick Perry's over-compensatory manliness is getting tired.

Oh puh-lease. Sometimes our governor seems to go out of his way to make it totally embarrassing to be a Texan.
Texas Governor Rick Perry's interview with the New York Times about his Boy Scout book is just another feather in a 10-gallon hat of hee haw humiliation.
Perry is donating the sales to not just the Boy Scouts proper, but, more pointedly, to their legal defense fund, which funds the lawsuits it finds itself in after it kicks out loyal scouts discovered to be homosexual.
"Trustworthy." That's one of their virtues.
One wonders how today's Scouts would deal with their own founder, Lord Baden Powell.
When interviewer Deborah Solomon suggested to Perry that homosexuals might also be interested in the same virtues touted by the Scouts, like being loyal and thrifty, Rick quipped, "The argument that gets made is that homosexuality is about sex. Do you agree?" to which Solomon flatly replied, "No."
Then Rick said (and I am not making this up), "Well, then why don’t they call it something else?"
Perhaps for the same reason that heteroSEXuals don't call "it" something else either, dumbass. Capital O. Capital M. Capital G.
What flavor of stupid juice is this man's gray matter soaking in? His hair product? Let's find out the brand so we can lobby to have it banned from the shelves.
All that aside, Chuck Smith from Equality Texas calls for a dignified response: Are you gay? Were/are you a scout? Go Wednesday, Feb. 27, to the guv's book reading at our local giant independent bookstore (who does not get a plug from me today for their ridiculous whitewash. Honies, don't say "secular humanist" when you mean "gay." Just say gay.)
Our darling Richard Whittaker blogged thusly over at our sister/brother blog Newsdesk.
