Untapped Austin Releases Brewery List
One day, more than 75 beermakers
By Brandon Watson, 1:00PM, Wed. Apr. 6, 2016
If you are one of those weirdos who hates both beer and music, here’s a Zima and a Two and a Half Men DVD. Please entertain yourself while the rest of us discuss some adult stuff – namely the return of the Untapped Music and Beer Festival to Carson Creek Ranch on Saturday, May 14.
It’s the fifth anniversary for the festival series, so Untapped is putting out the candles and roses, introducing a VIP "Stout Package" with perks like early entry, access to the Untapped Clubhouse, side stage access, an open bar featuring beer and wine, and nibbles from hot local restaurants. The die-hards among you can purchase a season pass for the first time this year, featuring entry to all five Untapped cities (Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston, Austin, and Dallas). If you are less of a baller, no worries, sell the less essential parts of your goth record collection and you’ll have enough for a ticket and a subscription to Tidal.
You already know the headliners: Atlas Genius, Deltron 3030, JR JR, Kaleo, Lady Lamb, and Coast Modern. But we are about to tell you the breweries you will be drinking while awkwardly swaying to the beat. This year’s list reps Austin in force; almost a third of the list comes from our backyard, including newcomers like Blue Owl Brewing and Last Stand Brewing and established favorites like Austin Beerworks and Jester King. Outside of Austin, Untapped has drafted plenty of cult breweries that are not distributed in Austin, like Fort Worth’s Collective Brewing and Dallas’ Peticolas and introducing some new players to the festival like Placentia, CA’s The Bruery and Asheville, NC’s Wicked Weed.
The beer list is still being finalized, but we’ll bring you those deets when they are ready. For now, turn on the Jock Jams and read the below list of participating breweries. The word you are looking for is “awesome.”
