Chipotle Outlets Support Urban Roots

All 19 Chipotle Mexican Grill locations in the Austin metro area are participating in an all-day fundraiser to generate a $15,000 donation to Urban Roots on Thursday, Feb. 26.

Urban Roots is an Austin nonprofit that offers at-risk youth ages 14-17 paid internships to work on a 5-acre urban farm. In addition to organic farming techniques, the students learn about healthy eating choices, cooking, product marketing, and community involvement. The produce they raise each year is donated to local food banks and sold at area farmers' markets. The Chipotle donation is earmarked to support their Field Trips to the Farm program.

"We are honored to have Chipotle as a member of the Urban Roots family. Their vital support of our Field Trips allow us to offer age-appropriate tours to hundreds of middle school, elementary, and high school students each year, free of charge," said Urban Roots executive director Max Elliott in a press release. "These tours give young people hands-on opportunities to learn the value of knowing where your food comes from by tasting vegetables right from the field. We can't thank Chipotle enough for helping to make these tours possible."

In order to help Chipotle reach their stated goal of a $15,000 donation, all Austinites need to do is stop in at their favorite Chipotle outlet on Thursday and buy something to eat. How simple is that?
