Even if you've never heard of Pivot.tv before this week, you're probably familiar with two of its biggest stars: Joseph Gordon-Levitt's hitRECord and Whole Foods Market.

Pivot and Whole Foods announced this morning that they were teaming up to release the TV series Dark Rye, which started life as an online magazine in 2012 and won a James Beard Award in 2013. According to a press release, the first season "will highlight topics ranging from artists seeking social justice to entrepreneurs rebuilding Detroit to culinary masters maintaining sustainable food traditions."

While the first episode introduces host Kirk Lombard, "a Bay Area fisherman and forager," a solid handful of future episodes and clips were filmed in and around Austin, including "Senses" (episode 2), featuring Whole Foods Market's global beverage buyer Devon Broglie; "Libation" (episode 9), featuring Argus Cidery and Wes Mickel; "Meat" (episode 14), featuring Jesse Griffiths of Dai Due; "Bake" (episode 17), featuring Laura Sawicki, formerly of La Condesa and whose forthcoming Launderette and Angry Bear with Rene Ortiz are some of the most anticipated restaurants of 2014; and "Body" (episode 20), with local woodworker Michael Yates. You'll also spot host Lombard in such familiar venues as Room Service Vintage, Hyde Park Gym, and more.

As always, stay tuned.

Dark Rye premieres Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 8:30pm CT on Pivot.
