This year will feature cuisine from top chefs and local hot spots around town, served side-by-side with sparkling wine and serious reds from around the world. We take a quick sneak peak at the 11th annual “Big Reds and Bubbles”, to be held at the Driskill Hotel (6th & Brazos) on Nov. 7 from 6:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m..
“Over the years our guests have come to appreciate and love Big Reds & Bubbles because it engages and tantalizes all of their senses in a festive, joyful atmosphere, enveloped by the luxurious ambiance of the Driskill,” says Michael Russell, the Foundation’s president-elect. It is indeed an elegant event, draped in chandeliers, ladies in evening gowns, and jazzy live music. As the premier event for The Wine and Food Foundation of Texas, it will likely sell out again this year.
Here is a sneak peak into a few of the many goodies you can sample at the event next week:
Peter Maffei of Finn & Porter - Duck Two Ways with Heirloom Carrots
Jennifer Costello and Chris Dalaku at The Bonneville - Slow Braised Pork Rillette with Pear Mostarda
Mat Clouser at Swift's Attic - Scallop Tataki w/ Apples, Fennel, & Caviar
Alma Alcocer-Thomas at El Alma Café - Lamb Barbacoa Tostadita
Kyle McKinney at Barley Swine - Sweet Potato S'Mores
Nicole Patel from Delysia Chocolatier - Handmade Chocolate Truffles
Ruta Maya - Fresh roasted coffee
The list of wines is still a secret, but it is sure to feature some of the top sparkling and well-respected reds from around the world that are sold here in Austin. Exploring the options is a fun, hands-on way to inspire holiday party planning.
In addition to all the bites and sips, there will be a silent auction with prizes like a stay at the Four Seasons Resort & Club in Las Colinas, tickets to Ballet Austin's 51st Annual Production of The Nutcracker, gift cards to restaurants like Uchi and Bufalina, and more.
To purchase a rare ticket, visit the Wine and Food Foundation website. Tickets are $85 for Foundation members and $100 for the general public.
