Sen. Kevin Eltife, R-Tyler, has filed four bills to remove handicaps to Texas’ growing craft brewing businesses.

Together, Senate Bills 515, 516, 517 and 518 would update Prohibition-era laws that benefit out-of-state beer producers over Texas’ small craft brewers. Catch up on background here.

Scott Metzger, a vocal advocate for beer distribution law reform as head of the Texas Craft Brew­ers Guild's Legislative Committee and founder of Freetail Brewing Com­pany in San Antonio, said,

"If passed, we can expect to see increased capital investment, employment, and tax revenue for the state. I look forward to seeing this bill pass so that Texas can begin its ascent to being the top state in the nation for craft brewers."
