Have Dinner with Supper Friends

2Dine4 Catering's Swoop House pop-up restaurant offers tasty options

Supper Friends is the pop-up restaurant created by 2Dine4 Catering in the cozy Swoop House (3012). Over the coming week, Supper Friends will host three distinctly different meals - everything from the Asian stylings of chef Jay Huang to the French-influenced Southern fare of Molly Ivins to Cajun/Creole dishes being tested for menu at the new Sawyer & Co.

On Thursday, November 8th, Supper Friends welcomes chef Jay Huang, longtime Uchi sous-chef who has recently moved on to Trace at the W Hotel. Chef Jay's dinner will offer multiple courses of Asian-inspired small plates. The evening begins with passed appetizers and complimentary drinks at 7pm and dinner service begins at 7:45pm. As always, Supper Friends is BYOBeer, Wine, or Champagne with no corkage fee. Dinner is $65 per person, plus tax and tip.

Over dinner 22 years ago this month, food writer Ellen Sweets and political writer Molly Ivins began a long, treasured friendship based on a mutual love of food and entertaining. Their escapades, both in and out of the kitchen, resulted in a delightful book called Stirring It Up With Molly Ivins - A Memoir with Recipes (UT Press)which Sweets wrote after the death of her dear friend. Molly Ivin's tastes in food could be as folksy and homespun as her broad Texas accent or as erudite as her educational background and as sophisticated as her French conversation. On Wednesday, November 14th, Supper Friends presents a French-influenced Southern dinner based on recipes from the book with author Ellen Sweets as their special guest for the evening. Molly loved a drink before dinner, as well as drinks with and after, come to think of it, so get there for the passed appetizers and complimentary drinks at 7pm and be sure to bring whatever you'd like for them to pour with your meal. Dinner is $65, plus tax and tip, and includes one signed copy of the book for every couple. [image-2}

The kitchen staff at 2Dine4 and Supper Friends is busy tasting recipes and developing the menu for the company's newest restaurant venture, Sawyer & Company, which opens on Cesar Chavez sometime in the spring of 2013. Some of these new menu ideas have a way of showing up at Supper Friends dinners, such as the one on Friday, November 16th, when they'll be showcasing a classy Southern Comfort Food menu. Dinner is $65, plus tax and tip.
