'Bizarre Foods America' Bites Austin

By Virginia B. Wood, August 10, 2012, 11:58am, On the Range

Globe-trotting chef Andrew Zimmern and a crew from Bizarre Foods America spent a week hunting, cooking, and eating in Central Texas earlier this year. The Austin show is set to air on Monday, August 13, 9pm.

We know Zimmern hunted quail at Broken Arrow Ranch with chef Rene Ortiz, cooked and ate pigeon with the Bonneau family at Countryside Farm, and made a pilgrimage to Lockhart to visit the pit at Smitty's Market. He spent time at the Dai Due kitchen with Jesse Griffith, drank beer at Whip In, ate all kinds of pork dishes at the Pig Vicious trailer, and enjoyed beef heart tartare with Ned Elliot at Foreign & Domestic. There's not telling who or what will make the final cut, but you can bet Austin food will make a good showing. Tune in on Monday and salivate.
