April in Austin (Part 2)

Allow us to suggest 6 fantastic festivals filled with food, artistic aptitude, sound sensation, and some fine Texas sunshine.

Old Settler’s Music Festival at the Salt Lick Barbecue Pavilion (@Oldsettler)

Where can you find Grammy-winning American music, arts and crafts, camping, good eats, acoustic jazz and blues, bluegrass, local favorites, and international award-winning artists all in one place? At Central Texas’ signature music festival, of course! Located just outside of Austin, join us for four straight days of finger pickin'—done the good ol’ Texas-friendly way.

When: April 18th-21st

Tickets: $25 and up/ Kids 12 and under are free!

Austin Reggae Festival at Auditorium Shores (@AustinReggae)

Spread the positive vibrations in celebration of the 20th annual Austin Reggae Festival, the city’s largest single fundraising event for the Capital Area Food Bank. Sit back and relax with thousands of other reggae lovers from across the world while listening to live Rastafarian music—including headliners Lance Herbstrong and the Wailers—and also enjoy tasty food, arts and crafts, and the peaceful environment of Auditorium Shores.

When: April 19th-21st

Gates: Fri. 3-10PM/ Sat. 11 AM-10PM/ Sun. 11 AM-10 PM

Tickets: $15 and up/ Kids 12 and under are free! A portion of ticket proceeds benefits the Capital Area Food Bank.

Moontower Comedy & Oddity Fest (@MoontowerComedy)

Featuring more than 100 sidesplitting comedians doing everything from standup and sketch to improv and musical comedy, the Paramount Theatre presents the world-class Moontower Festival to Austin. Acts will be hosted all over the city at 11 different venues, including the Paramount Theatre, The Parish, and Swan Dive. Some of the festival’s featured headliners are: Michael Ian Black, Bill Burr, Dana Carvey, Jim Gaffigan, Bill Hader, Anthony Jeselnik, and Reggie Watts.

When: April 24-27th

Austin FOOD & WINE Festival at Auditorium Shores and Republic Square (@austinfoodwine)

Coddle your culinary senses at the three-day food-filled, booze-filled, chef-certified Austin FOOD & WINE Festival, presented by FOOD & WINE magazine. Here you can join top chef talent, sommelier and winemakers from across the nation, along with musical performances to boot. The festival will also host Travel Channel’s Andrew Zimmern—the creator, host, and co-executive producer of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern—who will stop by the Autograph Tent to sign cookbooks. Don’t miss the opportunity to taste 80+ wine, spirit, and artisanal food exhibitions! But remember, you must be 21+ to attend!

Austin Psych Fest at Carson Creek Ranch (@AUSTINPSYCHFEST)

Looking for mind-expanding music and legendary artists from around the world? Look no further! Join Austin Psych Fest, as it returns for its sixth year of promoting and creating artistic expression, supporting local Austin businesses, and operating in an environmentally friendly manner. This year’s lineup includes The Moving Sidewalks ft. Billy Gibbons, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and Deerhunter.

When: April 26-28th

Tickets: $60 and up

This year will be the first year the fest offers camping passes ($60) as well as layaway passes, which allow you to conveniently purchase the ticket in two parts.

Blanton 50 Fest at the Blanton Museum of Art (@blantonmusem)

You’re invited to a free, come-all art and music extravaganza in honor of the Blanton’s 50th birthday celebration! The event will take place among the museum’s two buildings and outdoor plaza, where you can admire the art, listen to live music, network, and partake in art-making activities, including a T-shirt screen-printing station. There will also be opportunities to win prizes from the W Hotel, Alamo Drafthouse, Ballet Austin, and more!
