Chewbacca Wants You To Read

For a wookiee whose first language closer resembles that of a bear or a walrus, Chewbacca is certainly serious about reading. Or at least Peter Mayhew is.

In celebration of National Library Week and to kick off its 2013 READ campaign, Austin Public Library today released this poster featuring actor Peter Mayhew, who portrayed Chewbacca in the Star Wars films, reading to a young group of kids from charity cosplay group the 501st Legion.

Both of Mayhew's books, My Favorite Giant and Growing Up Giant (he's 7-feet-2-inches tall, after all), are available for checkout at APL. Dive in to that or any of the other thousands of books during this literacy campaign.
