The Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans provides a luxurious base camp while visiting the Crescent City during the spring festival season.

Mardi Gras ignites the party season before the summer heat turns the Bayou City into a sauna. Fat Tuesday falls a little later than usual this year. The parades begin on Feb. 15 and culminate on March 4. Next up is the free French Quarter Festival, April 10-13, featuring only Louisiana musicians on stages in the park along the levee.

Jazz and Heritage Festival celebrates its 45th anniversary, April 25-27 and May 1-4. Do you go for the food or the music? Speaking of food, the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience fills the Convention Center with all the food and drink you can imbibe, May 21-24.

Near the end of Canal Street, the Windsor Court is an easy walk to the French Quarter, downtown, and is across the street from Harrah's Casino. The hotel's many amenities include a rooftop swimming pool and a spa for relaxing after enjoying the merriment. For the foot-sore guests, the restaurant and two lounges offer easy access to the tastes of New Orleans.

The Windsor Court Hotel is at 300 Gravier St., two blocks off Canal. Built for the 1984 World's Fair, it recently had a makeover that landed it on a list of the best hotels in the world.
