Moppin' up the Shop
The Men Who Have Sex With Men Outreach Program (Ms MOP) hits the bars and the parks, offering HIV-preventative services to those men who are not gay-identified but sexually active with male partners. The group is the combined efforts of ALLGO/Informe SIDA, ASA, and Austin /Travis County Health Dept. Austin Rape Crisis Center (ARCC) presents a Mardi Gras Fundraiser for their Children's Program. Children under 18 make up 40% of the clients receiving assistance from ARCC, yet recent federal budget cuts have left the Children's Program decimated. 445-5776, ext. 214.
Move It or Lose It
There are two move-a-thons next weekend, so you may wish to begin stretching now. The Human Race benefits the Volunteer Center/Capital Area which involves 24 non-profit agencies and is a 10K run/5K walk, Sun, Feb 25, 9am and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer benefits the American Cancer Society and is a 5K walk/run/cycle/wheelchair/rollerblade-a-thon, Sat, Feb 24, 7:30am.
