About AIDS
Fri., July 28, 1995
There are many ways in which you can provide the vital service to people living with HIV/AIDS in the process of living with dignity. We are looking for volunteers who have some time to dedicate on a regular basis.
Buddy/Helpers:
As a Buddy/Helper Volunteer you will have the opportunity to provide companionship and socialization opportunities, to those who may have become isolated and alone due to diminishing capabilities, and/or some practical support such as help with grocery shopping, house cleaning, assisting with occasional meal preparation, drives to medical appointments, etc. for people who have limited reserves of strength and stamina.
Freelance:
Freelance volunteers do a variety of tasks on an on-call basis. Many clients need only one-time or short-term assistance. This can involve assistance with grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, picking up medications, driving, etc. We need folks with daytime and/or evening hours, week days or weekends! Freelance Coordinator Alejandra Rocha can be reached at 406-6111.
Others:
We can always utilize the services of those who are able to donate specialized skills such as hair cutting, lawn maintenance, auto mechanics, house cleaning, or laundry services.
Buddy/Helper Volunteers attend a weekend seminar to acquire the basic sensitivities and skills you may need. If you are interested in becoming more involved with AIDS in your community, please call me at 406-6151 or 451-2273 for further information.
