A Talking Cure for the Delusion of Meaning

In which practicing psychoanalyst Charles Merward of Los Angeles "volleys the thoughts and fantasies of audience members" regarding a new exhibition of videowork that features "people who have experienced severe physical trauma from accident or assault or have lived with extreme physical issues from birth." These videos are created by the brilliant photographer, Austin's own Denise Prince – who will also be onstage. "It's going to be … less of a visual-arts thing as performance," says Prince. "Performance art or theater or a highly intellectual comedy routine. We'll be accompanied by Fred Jay Ross on organ, and possibly a bear." Highly recommended. See the videos before you see the show: Wed.-Sat., Sept. 11-14, 10am-4pm. Performance: Fri., Sept 13, 7:30pm. Scottish Rite Theater, 207 W. 18th. Free.
