Austin Film Society: 30 Years of AFS: Los Olvidados

Known in English as The Young and the Damned, this film sees Buñuel working in a social-realist style, though nevertheless with touches of his own surrealist and Marxist sensibilities. The street urchins of Mexico City are the subjects, and though the film depicts the harmful effects of their harsh environment, Buñuel never sentimentalizes their plight or activities.
