Man With a Movie Camera remains a landmark not only of documentaries, but of film itself, and Justin Sherburn’s original score for the 1929 Russian silent last year matched it. The Okkervil River keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist reassembles his merry band of cinephiles, Montopolis, for more live accompaniment, this time on 1925 Japanese samurai silent The Serpent. “[Leaning] heavily on late-Seventies punk rock, Bernard Herrmann, and analog synthesizers,” writes Sherburn, the onetime marriage of sound and vision includes “a gigantic gong.” 9pm. – Raoul Hernandez
