Reunited twice as long as its initial 1979-1983 run, Beantown’s Mission of Burma still seethes post-punk vitality. The quartet’s latest, Unsound, continues the band’s rebound, “Second Television” sidling up alongside “Academy Fight Song” in a manner too singular and forward leaning to qualify as graybeard nostalgia. Lurching and looping through dystopian back alleys, their artfully frenzied discontent springs eternal. Local disciples the Young and the Gary provide pitch-perfect support. – Greg Beets
