For those of us at the Austin Music Hall in 1995, the Cult’s initial break-up weeks later appeared inevitable. That the onetime UK quartet rose again this South by Southwest with an album, Choice of Weapon, that effectively crosses two of its best, 1985’s Love and Sonic Temple four years later, comes as a total surprise. If you missed them at Auditorium Shores, Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy revive post-goth rawk outside at 7pm, while at 9pm inside Rolling Stone darlings the Sheepdogs and Belgian garage rockers Black Box Revelation hold down the afterparty. – Raoul Hernandez
