“Far from the sterile studios of Nashville” is how Del Rio native Radney Foster describes the recording of Everything I Should Have Said, his first songbook in five years. The bordertown Texan instead loaded a band into a former Louisiana bayou brothel hard-luck love songs embroidered with subtle sonic touches recalling Joe Henry. The former Foster & Lloyd hitmaker, 54, deepens vocally on the new album, like a graver Bruce Robison or Stephen Bruton. His co-write with ATX’s Darden Smith (“Mine Until the Morning”) turned into an affecting duet with Patty Griffin.
