There’s nothing succinct about SMZ. The Canadian collection of Godspeed You! Black Emperor personnel plays symphonic passages swelling into almighty schizophrenic jams. They’ll shake the bricks of Mohawk’s outside stage with a unique tumult that marries harmony and discord. If mouth-breathing singer/guitarist Efrim Menuck has the only copy of a lost Fugazi album where they play chamber music, it would only explain half the sounds these Constellation Records veterans are making. – Kevin Curtin
