Need a break from red-nosed overload? Let Miss Lavelle get you back in the spirit at her 10th annual Christmas soiree. The local R&B queen, who performed in Houston alongside Johnny Copeland and Bobby Bland during the heyday of Don Robey’s Duke/Peacock label, has the bona fides to salve holiday stressor. At 83, she still commands the stage with a down-home amalgam of blues, jazz, gospel, and soul. The proceeds benefit White’s living expenses, so expect a special guest or two among the devotees, 8pm. – Greg Beets
