Since the dissolution of Soul Coughing, frontman Mike Doughty has capitalized on his knack for witty and sardonic lyricism filtered through both beatnik and hip-hop sensibilities, still very much intact in his solo oeuvre. He’s been on quite a roll with the publication last month of his entertaining memoir The Book of Drugs, 2011’s critically acclaimed album Yes and Also Yes, and new live double-disc The Question Jar. – Jay Tracthenberg
