KUTX breaks out another one in Nikki Lane, Black Keys production cottage industry Dan Auerbach’s latest protégé. His production of her instantly likable New West Records debut All or Nothin’ can‘t outshine the South Carolina native’s talents, pegged five words into her Facebook bio: Wanda Jackson. Like that rockabilly pioneer, Lane’s pinched nasality and twang marries two other stated influences: English pub rockers Brinsley Schwarz and Lucinda Williams. Say you saw her inside at Stubb’s. Across town, long a star in his native Australia, veteran wonder Xavier Rudd arrives with his own American antecedents: multi-instrumental sorcerers David Lindley and Ben Harper. Neither of them, however, travel with multiple didgeridoos. Fellow countryman and equally traveled bluesman Ash Grunwald opens.
