Marcus Roberts Trio, Béla Fleck
It’s an odd coupling upon first blush, but the prodigiously talented Béla Fleck, front-and-center modern banjo picker, has played with symphony orchestras and African griots so jamming with a jazz trio is hardly a stretch. Roberts is a fabulous pianist, who came to prominence with Wynton Marsalis and never looked back. Drummer Jason Marsalis and bassist Rodney Jordan round out his trio. The title of the new Fleck/Marcus collaborative album, Across the Imaginary Divide, spells it out. 7 & 9:30pm. – Jay Trachtenberg
