The Belmont

305 W. Sixth, 512/476-2100

Before kicking off a brief run with the Flatlanders, Joe Ely swaggers into the Belmont with his supergroup’s rhythm section, drummer Pat Manske and bassist Jimmy Pettit, and guitar slinger Jeff “Plank” Plankenhorn. Lone Star roots burners remain alive and well with the quartet honky-tonking its way through rowdy crowd favorites from “Me and Billy the Kid” to contemplative ballads like “Satisfied at Last,” from Ely’s most recent LP of the same title. Jesse Dayton opens. – Nina Hernandez
