Soundtrack to my schoolgirlhood, the Faint’s third full-length, 2001’s Danse Macabre, put the “new” back in New Wave. Reissued this week, the Nebraskan, Saddle Creek Records quartet’s defining LP goths up Eighties UK synth-punk, and as a new, 2-CD deluxe edition, Danse Macabre returns in an increasingly diverse electro landscape. Performing the album in its entirety, the Faint brings along label- and citymates Icky Blossoms, an electronic trio. Trust slots in the middle. – Abby Johnston
